Brother Schools Cross Country 2018 Results

We had a big group out today in glorious weather competing for their schools at the annual ‘Brother races’ organised by Clonliffe Harriers. In the primary schools races Niamh o Connor and Shona Gogarty ran great and helped their team from MHOC to 3rd place. Oisin Gavin had a very good run in the 6th class boys race.

In the first year races Cliodhna Ryan Hazel Maguire and Conor Maleady ran very well, in the junior races Keelin Collins came an impressive 4th overall, Kacey and Clare finished in the top 10 with Aisling Keenan improving from race to race.

In the inter girls race Gill finished a fine 5th, Clare 7th , Caolan in her best race ever finished 10, Aoibh just behind her and Cliodhna not far behind in 20th place. The St Dominic’s girls were given joint first team with DGA.
Sean Donoghue easily won the inter boys race with Joseph Fogarty running well despite having a dodgy ankle, next in was Conor Murphy, followed by Ian and Cillian.
In the senior girls race Dora came 3rd and led her team of Celine who had a great run, Emily and Laura Maleady to first place. Sean Gleeson had his first race in a long time in the senior boys and good to see him racing. Hope we haven’t left anyone out. Great to see so many committed young people representing their schools and the club today. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who gave lifts and supported.

Training/competition this week

Sat 6th Oct Hole in the wall 10.30 sprints group, Dermots group check.

Sun 7th Oct League 2 for all Hilarys group and older cross country group. Under9/10/11/12 /13 meet at 10.15 at pope’s cross car park. Older age groups follow over aiming to arrive at Magazine Hills at 11am. Bring 3 euro for your sticker. Bring warm clothes as it can get chilly very quickly. No training today for this group so use the race as a training run.

Sun 7th Oct sprints group meet at 11 at Hole in the wall.

Tue 9th Oct Bogies at 4 for anyone who’s free. Training for those not racing in Santry on Wednesday at 7pm meeting at Hole in the wall.

Wed 10th Oct schools cross country in Santry starting at 1pm.

Thur 11th Oct sprints group gym at 7. Everyone else St John Bosco school hall 7pm. High Viz tops essential.

Dublin schools cross country report

We had a small group of club athletes representing their schools in the Phoenix park on Thursday. Our star performer on the day was Caolan Collins(Dominican Griffith Ave) who won the second year girls race in fine style. Clare o Connor (St Dominic’s Cabra) ran very well finishing in 5th place. Aisling Keenan is showing the result of consistent training and was much improved on last year’s race.

In the first year race Cliodhna Ryan had a very good run finishing 9th in a huge field with Hazel Maguire not too far behind. Well done to all and the next schools race will be the ‘Brother at your side’s races on Wed 10th Oct in Santry at 1pm.

Tue 2nd Oct Hole in the wall 7pm everyone. High Viz tops and any little flashy bands from Aldi/Lidl/Deals or anywhere else you see them.

Bogies at 4 for anyone who can make it.

Thur 4th Oct gym group 7pm. Everyone else St John Bosco school hall at 7.

Reminder to parents. Please don’t allow your child out without something bright and visible from now on.
Next Sunday 5th Oct League 2 will be on in the Phoenix park. All athletes are expected to take part.

Results update

On the 16th of September we had a large group representing the club at League 1 in Newbridge House. First timers Jessica Ryan and Pearl O Brien ran in the under 9 girls race and Dan in the boys race and all ran well. Martha and Abigal finished in the teens in the under 10 girls race with Hugh have his best race so far in the boys under 10. Aimee Ryan was a fine 8th in the under 11 girls race with Aimee and Aoibhinn just behind her. Daniel was around 20th in the boys race. Under 12 girls were led in by Shona in 10th with Beth, Lily, Yana and Meadbh in her first outing just behind. Oisin and Finn both had good runs in the under 12 and 13 boys with Niamh and Aoife both in top 20 under 13 girls. Caolan had a good 4th finish under 14 with Hazel finishing well. In the under 15 girls Clare finished 5th with Kacey, Keelin, Yana and Alex not far behind. Joe just got caught out near the line and came 2nd with and Conor Maleady finished well. Well done to Clare , Gillian, Aoibh, Dora, Celine, Laura, Oisin, Ella Mae and Daniel in the older age groups. We dont have the official results and hard to figure out as age groups were mixed together. Well done everyone, thanks to all the parents who gave out the numbers and supported the athletes.On the same weekend Daire Finn won the St Brigids GAA club road race in Blanchardstown. Well done Daire!
