Weekend results update
Our star performer this weekend was leaving cert student Alison Burke who won the gold medal in the hurdles in her final juvenile indoor competition. Alison won a silver medal in her first nationals at under 12 in the 60m. This was her first national individual gold medal and her new person best time puts her currently number 6 in the national senior rankings for the current indoor sesson. Fabulous achievement and well done to Alison and her coach Brian McManus.
Chloe Corcoran ran a great new pb of 25.88 in her heat of the 200m under 18 and qualified for the final. Despite getting lane 1 in the final she ran really well and finished a very close 4th.
Joseph Fogarty ran in the 800m under 15 which is a bit short for him, Gill Murphy was unlucky to just miss out on a place in her final under 16 despite a very good run, Sara Byrne and Ella Mae both ran well but missed out on final places. Emily Murphy did very well to make the final of her 800.
In Nottingham Sean Donoghue was on the inter boys Irish schools team which finished 2nd behind a very strong English team. Sean is under age again for this race next year and hopefully if luck goes his way will be on the team again.
That’s cross country and indoors all wrapped up for 2018. Thanks to all the parents who did the hard yards over the winter. Outdoor season just around the corner!
Alison wins the All Irelands 60mh in 8.87 PB!
