On Saturday we had 2 athletes in action in Tullamore. Sean Donoghue ran in his first Nationals in the under 13 boiys 600m. He wa off the pace on thsi occasion but with a winters training behind him will be much better next year. Eoin Kavanagh came back from the Gaeltacht and ran very well in his heat of the 400m coming 2nd. In the final he got lane 8,ran a great 300m but faded over the last 100m to finish 7th overall. Brave performance.

On Sunday the 1500m races got off at 10am. Daire Finn ran in the under 16 race and was right up there till the last lap. Daire has been struggling with lap 4 all season but a winter of cross country should sort that! Alison Armstrong ran close to her best time in her 1500 under 18. The under 18 boys race had 19 runners many of a very high standard. Pierre took out the pace and tried his best to run the speed out of the kickers. With one of his best performances he almost succeeded just getting pipped on the line finishing 2nd. Great race!

The happiest girl in the Gaeltacht today is undoubtedly Cliona Murphy!. Cliona organised her bus, train, bed for the night, lift, race, train and bus over Sat and Sun to get to Tullamore for her race.(Parents holiday clashed), she wasnt abandonded! She ran her race like the pro she is and won a well deserved gold medal at her last juvenile track championships. Great girl!

Chloe Corcoran made her way from holidays in Wexford and despite not doing any formal training for the last few weeks ran really well and came 3rd in her heat of the 200m under 14. She qualified for the final and ran well again coming joint 6th.

Well done to all. Nearly everyone done now for Summer. Alison Burke is competing in the National combined events in Tullamore next Saturday and a few of the older girls are racing in th last graded meeting on Wednesday week.
