Well done to Catherine won her heat in the 100m equalling her personal best on route to victory. Catherine went on to finish 7th in her semi final after a bad start. You can’t give those fast girls a head start!

Steph Creaner finished in sixth place in a very tough 200m heat against some of the fastest girls in Europe after a long wait around to race.

Great to see two Celtic DCH athletes representing Ireland at the European U23s – hopefully more to come in the future!

Dublin Graded in Santry

We had athletes in action at league 6 in Santry last night. First off was MIchael Fitzpatrick who ran just over 51 secs in the 400m. The womens 800m were next with Cliona Murphy running 2mins 30 secs in the B race. In the A race Niamh Donnelly had her best race ever running a personal best of 2.15.69 with Clare Brennan close behind. A big well done to both girls who have been working very hard at training. Eoin Kavanagh ran a personal best in the c 800m clocking 2mins 9.75 secs. Pierre ran a very strong race in the B 800m for men clocking just over 2mins 3 secs. Well done to all.

National Juvenile championships Day2

Day 2 of the Nationals kicked off for us with Danny in the 400m where he ran well but didnt make the final. Next we had Pierre and Cliona Murphy in their 800m races which are a bit short for them both. They both ran well but found the pace and the weather a bit hot for them. Chloe and Emily both jumped really well in the high jump under 13. First did 1.43, 2nd 1.40 and 6 girls tied on 1.35, when the countbacks were done Chloe was 4th and Emily 6th with a pb of 1.35.

Great Performances In Tullamore

We had a great day at the first day of the Woodie’s DIY Juvenile championships today with some brilliant performances by the girls.

Alison Armstrong came first in the U17 Steeplechase in 7:23.15 to better the championships record of our own Siobhan McGinley who clocked 7:31.37 in the same event 2012. Alison had travelled all the way back from the Gaeltacht in Galway to compete in her race – that’s dedication!!

Cliona Carthy also had a brilliant run and went on to take Siobhan’s U18 record (7:38.31) when winning the U18 Steeplechase in 7:24.75.

In the sprints Alison Burke came 7th in the U14 80m Sprint final in a time of 10.90 seconds and 4th in the long jump with a PB of 4.81

Sophie English came 7th in the U12s 60m final in 8.83 seconds and 13th in the High Jump clearing 1.15m.

Chloe Corcoran came 8th in the U13 80m in a time of 11.02 seconds.

In the field events, Muireann McGinley (Our clubs only pole vaulter!) placed second in the U17 girls pole vaulter clearing 2.10m.

2 Golds and 2 new records by Celtic DCH today! Well done to all the girls who competed!
