On Sunday we have Chloe and Emily Corocran in the high jump, Cliona Murphy in the 800m, Pierre Murchan in the 800m, Danny Byrne Crowley in the 400m.

Community Games trophies

Just a reminder that all winners of Dublin Community Games who received trophies need to get them engraved. Irish Rubies which is located behind the Pro Cathedral in Marlborough St will do this for free. From memory they may not be open on Mondays. Please do it shortly because its very easy to keep putting it off and before you know it June 2014 is here and the trophy not engraved.

Cork City Sports

Calm and cloudy conditions greeted everyone as they arrived in Cork City Sports on Tuesday night where we had two Celtic DCH athletes competing.

62nd Cork City Sports

Catherine Mc Manus went in the B 100m which she won easily in a seasons best and her 2nd best time ever of 11.81. This would have left her 5th place overall in the A and B combined race and best of the Irish women competing. Great run!

pierre

Pierre went in the junior 1500m which was the last race of the night at 20.40. The weather had taken a slight change for the worse at this stage with a fairly strong breeze and was quite cool as well. The big field of 20 athletes took off very quickly but Pierre handled it well running into 2nd place early on behind the pace maker an out of trouble. He eventually finished 6th in 4.08 which was very solid against much older lads. None of the lads in his own age group were ahead of him.

European Under 23 Championships

The club received great news today when it was announced that our two senior sprinters Catherine and Steffi have both been selected to represent Ireland at the European Under 23 championships in Finland on the 11th-14th of July.

Below is a little flashback of when the girls competed in the European Juniors together in the 4x100m relay in 2009!  How time flies! Watch that race here (Steffi 1st leg Catherine 3rd)

Great to see the girls progressing from the international Junior to the international U23 ranks. Both girls thoroughly deserve their selection and we are all very proud of them. All the grinding training sessions in gyms, tracks, hills, all the tears(many of them) along the way have paid off. Determination, courage and a lot of guts have got both of them there. Well done to the girls and their coaches.

Junior and U23 All Irelands Results

A big well done to the girls who competed in Tullamore today.

Our sprinters were first on the track today this morning. Catherine came 1st in the 100m (+2.1) with a time of 11.77 and Steffi 2nd in 11.79 – a great race! Steffi then went on to win her 3rd National U23 200m title. Celtic DCH officially has the 2 fastest U23 women sprinters in Ireland this year! Watch the U23 Womens 100m race here.

The speedy pair then ran TWO relay races in an attempt to secure a relay qualifying time for the European Under 23s which unfortunately didn’t work out – strong swirling headwinds and relays don’t mix! Watch one of the Womens U23 relay team’s attempts at the time here.

Our middle distance girls had some absolutely horrible conditions to run in as it lashed on them (Cleared up nice and sunny once they crossed the finish line though, typical eh?) Claire Brennan came third in the Junior Womens 1500m with Cliona Carthy in 4th and Cliona Murphy in 8th. Sinead Cronin came second in the U23 1500m.

5 National medals not a bad days work! Well done girls!
