Graded in Tallaght

A big well done to Niamh Donnelly who ran a great new personal best of 4mins 44.73 sec in the 1500m in Tallaght tonight taking almost 7 secs off her previous best. Niamhs run was all the more exceptional as she led from the gun and ran the whole race by herself. Alison Armstrong ran a very fine race in 4th place ducking under the 5min barrier which was great running as she has just come back from the Gaeltacht. Well done to both girls. Niamh will have her last race this season in the National seniors on Sunday and Alison will have another week to go until the Celtic Games in Wales on August 3rd.

Dara Finn Cliona Murphy competed in the National 1500m races in Tullamore yeaterday. Darragh was a bit down on his best and found the pace a bit hot and Cliona ran a solid race finishing in 5mins 7 secs.

We got confirmation today that Alison Armstrong has been selected for the 1500m steeplechase at the Celtic international which will be held on the 3rd of August in Wales. Alison has really upped her game in her last few races and this chance to represent her country is well deserved. She follows in the illustrious footsteps of many of our older athletes who have run in the Celtics in their time and have continued on to greater things. Well done to Alison!
