We all arrived out to Santry on Friday evening in glorious sunshine for day 1 of the Dublin championships. In the under 10 500m we had 5 girls with the twins Antonio and Antoinette, Alex, Keelan and Clare all having great runs but not in the medals this time. Competition was very stiff in all the 600m races but we had brave runs from Ada, Anna, Dora, Emily, Kate, Gillian, Conor and Billy. In the under 15 800m Finn Burke Power ran really well finishing 3rd in a new pb, Ben made it to the final for Sunday, Pierre did a pb in the under 17 with Dylan not far behind, Cliona Murphy won the under 18, Danny did a pb in the under 19, Michael did the under 16 but found the going tough. Muireann won the pole vault under 17.
On Saturday morning Danny won the 400m under 19 in a pb, Shane was 8th in his final, Chloe Corcoran had a great jump of 1.40 to win the under 13 high jump with Emily Corcoran 2nd. Sophie English was 3rd in the under 12 high jump. Darragh Finn was 2nd in the under 15 1500m, Sarah Jane was going great until she got spiked and tripped and bravely ran on to finish her 1500m, Aoife Corr ran well in her 1500m, Cliona Murphy won the under 18 1500, Alison Armstrong won the under 17 steeplechase and Cliona Carthy won the the 18 event, Pierre won the under 17 1500m in a new pb and Dylan ran strongly to finish 2nd in the same race. Alison Burke came 5th in the 200m final under 14.
James and Finn ran in the under 15 boys 200m and found the pace a bit hot and Ellen Byrne made the final of the under 16 girls 200m finishing 8th. Well done to all and we have the final day on Sunday. Best of luck to Chloe Corcoran, Alison Burke, Sophie and James in the short sprints in Tallaght. Also to all the older gang in the AAI games in Santry.
