Friday

Day 1 of the Dublin Championships got off to a winning start for the club on Friday night when Keelan Gogarty had a great win in the under 9 girls 500m. Keelan had a great battle with a girl from Blackrock AC but she held on well to win the outdoor title to add to the indoor title she won in March. Well done Keelan! Our other medal winner was Cliona Murphy who ran a great race to come 2nd in the under 17 girls 800m.  Others who ran well tonight were Liam Burke, Laura May, the Murphy gang, Dora, Alex Corr, Aoife Corr, Alison Armstrong, Ben, Sarah Byrne, Luke and Danny.

Primary School Sports
The final day of the Primary schools relays were held in torrential rain in Santry on Thursday. Athletes from the club were representing D7ET.   Eppie NiDhiarmada , Ciara Hanley and Aoife Mitchell were on the  team which won the under 13 girls relay. The girls were led off in fine style by Ciara  who was winning her 2nd gold medal, she passed on to Eppie who was also winning her 2nd gold medal and Aoife held on to the lead to win the schools only gold relay medal of the sports. The girls under 10 with Hannah Butler Lynch and Laura May Galvin were on the team which finished 4th. Sean Harper was on the boys under 12 team which also finished 4th.

Good Experience in Switzerland

Two of our club athletes were competing in the Geneva International meeting on Saturday the 2nd of June and in the Chaux -de- Fonds meeting on Sunday the 3rd of June. Catherine equaled her seasons best of 13.88s in the 100m hurdles in Geneva  and Steffi got a new seasons best in the 200m with 24.41s. Despite the very windy and wet conditions on Sunday Steffi won her 200m race and Catherine made it into the finals of the ‘A’ 100m coming 7th against some very fast sprinters. Overall the girls should benefit from their experience of competing against top opposition in very competitive settings. Links here to the 100m Geneva; Links here to the 100hm Geneva

At Home – Best of Luck and Hard Luck

Best of luck to Sarah and David at the Irish Schools Championships on Saturday in Tullamore. Hard luck to Pierre who had to pull out due to injury. Best wishes to Sophie English who fractured her collar-bone at training on Thursday night. Sophie was  a very brave little girl and she and Pierre will be back in action as soon as they are able.

Abroad –

Steffi Creaner and Catherine Mc Manus  are off this weekend to race in Geneva and Basle in Switzerland.  The good wishes of the Club go with both girls as they both train very hard and hopefully will get the results they deserve.
