Community Games Day 1 June 16th
Day 1 of the Dublin Community Games finals got off to a damp start in Santry but thankfully it cleared up early. In the under 8 sprints little Ellen O’Rourke in her first race ever ran a great heat and qualifed for the final coming 4th in her semi final. Well done to Conor Moore, Freya Kelly, Ben O ‘Rourke and Emily Harrold all running their first race as well with Conor making the semi finals and still under 8 again next year.
In the under 10 100m and 200m races Keelan was running well out of her age group, Shauna and Con were also running their first races, Kate made the semi final of the 100m narrowly missing the final and Tom ran a strong second half of his 200m finishing 4th. Keelan, Tom, Alex and Con ran a great relay in the under 10 mixed event and were unlucky to miss out on a final place.
In the under 12 events Dora and Billy made their finals, Laura May and Oliver ran well but missed out on final places. Jordan Page made the semi final of the 100m but didnt progress to the final. Sophie English competed in the under 12 ball throw ( complete with broken collar bone). The boys relay team of Billy, Jim, Oliver and Conor ran really well but didnt make the final.
The under 13 mixed relay team of Luke, Patrick, Abbey and Zoe came 3rd in their heat and with only 2 teams making the final they were unlucky to miss out.
Laura Page came 2nd in the under 14 long puck with Zoe Couch a fine 3rd. Alison Burke made the final of the 100m under 14, James Scanlon and Finn Burke-Power made the final of the boys 100m, the under 14 relay team of James, Jamie, Finn and Conall ran a great race to retain the gold medal they won last year. Ben, Ciara and Conall are in the final of the 800m, the under 14 girls relay team of Ciara, Alison, Eppie and Aoife are also in the final.
Hazel English won the high jump under 16, with Aoife Corr 2nd. Eoin Kavanagh came 2nd in the boys high jump and Colm Feeney cames 2nd in the discus under 16.
Thank to all the parents who brought their children out. It was a long day and well done to everyone who competed.

Community Games trophies
So You Are Remembered
If anyone gets a trophy this weekend at the Community Games PLEASE bring it into Irish Rubies in Marlborough St to have it engraved. They do it free of charge. Do it next week or it will be put on the long finger and forgotten about. This will insure that your achievement is remembered. Trophies have been returned which have been in homes since last June and have not been engraved or cleaned. It is the responsibility of the winners to have this done.
