National Indoor Championships Weekend 1

Day 2 National Indoor Championships
We had two athletes in action on Day 2 of the National Indoors in Nenagh today. Grainne Fitzgerald had a really early start to Summer time in the Shot Putt under 14 at 10.30 in the morning where she finished 9th overall. Pierre Murchan had a great race in the 1500m final where he finished a fine 3rd knocking 17 seconds off his previous best time. With 2 laps to go Pierre was a good 15m off 3rd place but he never gave up and just kept working hard to close the gap and was justly rewarded with his bronze medal.

With a great start in the heat Alison came 2nd and qualified for the final. In the final she didn’t get such a great start and finished 6th overall which was a very good performance. In the high jump, under 12, Emily Corcoran came a fine 3rd, narrowly missing out on 2nd place. Olwyn Kennedy won her first individual national medal finishing 2nd in the under 19 girls 1500m.  Pierre has qualified for the 1500m final on Sunday. Well done to all.
