League 3 got under way in very windy conditions today in Tymon Park. We had a very good turnout of our younger athletes. Our standout performers were Finn Mc Auley, Caolan Collins, our under 12 girls team, Claire Murphy, Sara Byrne, Sean Donoghue, Dora Medgyesy Ben Casey. Great to see Ella Mae back in action in the under 15 girls and a really good run for Abbey in the under 16 girls. Great to see Gillian Murphy finish her race after a long time out with an injury. Well done to all and thanks to the parents who supported.

St Declans athletes impress!
In miserable conditions we had a hardy group of athletes running in the CBS cross country races in ALSAA on Friday representing St Declans Cabra. There were a few club lads missing on the day which is a pity as its very important to represent your school. First off were the minor boys and Sean Donoghue was an impressive 2nd over a short 1200m course. Conor Murphy ran really well finishng in the top 20. In the under 16 race Ben Casey had his best run ever and finished in a very good 13th place, Ben is working really hard and is much improved from last year. Aklilu also ran well in his first serious race and finished a fine 5th in the inter boys event. Well done to all the lads.

Nationals in Santry update.
Sean Donoghue was our star performer in Santry this weekend when he finished a very close 2nd in the under 14 boys race . Sean was very well positioned all the way around and despite losing a shoe halfway didnt loose his concentration and led the race into the home straight where he was chased hard by a runner from Kinsale who just pipped him on the line. A great result and a big improvement on his 8th place last year.
In the junior mens race Pierre got an unusually poor start and had a lot to do to get in touch with the leading group. He managed to stay in touch enough to hang on for dear life to 6th place overall which secured him a place on the Irish team for the European cross country championships in France in December. He is the first athlete from the Club to make an Irish team for the European cross country championships. Well done Pierre!
Alison Armstrong finished 10th and Cliona Murphy was 17th in the junior womens race. Daire Finn was 38th in the under 18 boys race which was up an age group for him. Our under 12 girls team battled it out and finished 12th team overall.
Our senior team were attempting 8k crosscountry for the first time and they all found it tough going, First in was Niamh Donnelly in 30th place, Clare Brennan was 46th, Sinead Cronin was 52nd, Aoife was 62nd and Aislinn finished 64th.
Could all the athletes and supporters who were there on Sunday check their bags as somebody put a watch in the wrong bag before their race and couldnt find it after. Let Mary or Dermot know if you find it.
