League 3

A huge well done to all who competed in league 3 in the Phoenix Park today in nasty enough conditions. Real cross-country weather! Keelin Gogarty had a great run to win the under 9 girls in fine style way ahead of the rest of the field with Alex Corr having her best run ever only a few places behind. Little Clare O Connor also ran great in her first race. Our other winner on the day was Alison Armstrong who ran very impressively in the under 16 girls race. Lots of other great performances in particular from the two Ben Quinns, Ella Mae, Laura May, Caoimhe Bresnan, Finn, Billy and Tom Brennan,Oliver, Finn Burke Power, Jamie,Oscar, Luke, Michael, Ciara and Sara J, Clare and Conor Murphy, Emily and Dora, Sean Harper and Sean Barrett, Alison and Liam Burke, Katie Hanna, Katie Harrold and Gillian, Ellen and Sara (great finish Sara), Aoife and Abbey. I hope i didnt leave anyone out, you were all great and its lovely to see the improvement over the 3 rounds of the league so far. Next Sunday league 4 will be on at the same venue and we hope to see you all back in action once again.

Dublin Novice
One of our older girls Sinead Cronin ran in the Dublin Novice which was on after the Juvenile races and she had her best run in a long time to finish a fine 10th in a very strong novice field. This was Sineads first outing since our senior gang have started a new training regime organised by Dermot and its great to see such a positive result. Well done to Dermot and Sinead!

Brother schools cross-country

Celtic athletes were out in force at the schools cross-country in Santry today (Wednesday). First off were the National schools girls and we had a great run from Ella Mae Cromie who finished a fine 2nd leading her team of Ada, Nora, Hannah and Sophie to a fine 2nd team overall for D7 Educate Together. Katie and Emily were on the winning Mary Help of Christians team. In the boys race Billy had a great run in 4th place and led his team of Evan, Oliver and other boys from their school D7 Educate together to a very fine 2nd team overall.

In the minor girls race Alison Burke, Zoe Couch, Abbey Corr and Ciara Hanley packed really well to finish 2nd team overall for St Dominics College. Finn Burke Power had the race of his life to finish in 4th place in the boys race and Luke finished a respectable 26th. In the junior boys we had yet another 4th place with Ben Quinn leading in his team from Belvedere College in a very impressive manner, Conall Regan and James Scanlon both ran quite well despite being off sick recently.

Cliona Murphy ran a great race in the Inter girls event and guess what another 4th place! Alison Armstrong came 5th , Cliona Carthy 7th and Aoife Corr 10th with Ellen just behind her. Maia Ryan ran her best race in a long  time to help St Dominics win team silver.  Pierre went  in the Inter boys race and he ran a great race for St Declan’s to finish 2nd in a very fast finishing race only inches behind the winner with Michael Hanley (also Declan’s having a good run to finish 66th), following his fine sub 7min. milling in the Simon race last week.  Great day for all, consistent training is the only way and it is showing. Well done to all. Keep it up.
